FAQ
Questions I get asked a lot
Do I need to be technical to work with you?
No — that's the point. I translate everything into business terms: what it costs, what it saves, what happens if you do nothing.
Are you a Microsoft partner or reseller?
No, deliberately. I recommend Microsoft tools when they're the right fit — which for most Australian SMBs they often are — but I earn nothing from the recommendation. That independence is the whole reason to hire me. Full disclosure →
We already have an IT provider. Do we need you too?
Probably yes, for different things. Your IT provider keeps things running day to day. I answer the questions they're not scoped for: are we secure, are we overpaying, where could AI save us real hours. I work alongside IT providers all the time — happily.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the job, and I'll always quote before starting — fixed price wherever possible, no open-ended hourly surprises. The sample engagements on the Security, AI Agents, and Microsoft pages show indicative pricing for the most common work. The first conversation is free.
What size business do you work with?
Australian businesses from a handful of staff up to a couple of hundred. Small enough to not have an IT department; big enough to have something worth protecting.
Is AI safe for a business like mine?
It can be — if it's set up with clear boundaries around your data. That's exactly the way I build. And if AI isn't the right answer for you yet, I'll say so.
Do I own the work you do?
Yes. Documentation, configurations, prompts, playbooks — everything I create in an engagement belongs to you and stays with you. No lock-in, no licence hostage-taking.
What if my situation doesn't fit any of the engagements on your list?
Most custom work fits within about 20% of one of the fixed-scope engagements. Where it doesn't, I write a single-page custom proposal — scope, price, timeline, acceptance criteria — before any work starts. Same discipline.
Where are you based? Do you travel?
Based in Australia, working with SMBs nationwide. Most work is done remotely; on-site available by arrangement.
