About

One person. On your side. That's the model.

I've spent 7 years helping Australian small and medium businesses with their technology — security, Microsoft, and now AI. In that time I've watched the same story play out over and over: a business pays a big consultancy for a glossy report that never gets acted on, or hires a cheap freelancer who disappears when the going gets complicated.

The gap

A middle that should exist

Odd One Out exists because there should be a middle: someone senior enough to do the work properly, small enough to charge fairly, and independent enough to give you advice with no strings attached.

What I stand for

What I stand for

  • Independence.

I'm not paid by Microsoft or any other vendor. My only income is what my clients pay me. More on that here →

  • Actions, not reports.

Every engagement ends with a prioritised, plain-English list of what to do next. If you can't act on my advice, I haven't done my job.

  • Plain English.

If I can't explain a risk or a recommendation in language a business owner understands, I don't understand it well enough myself.

  • Business first, technology second.

The question is never "what's the best tool?" It's "what does your business need?" Sometimes the answer is new technology. Often it's using what you already have, better. Occasionally it's "nothing — save your money."

  • Small on purpose.

Being a solo operator isn't a limitation, it's the product. You deal with the person doing the work. No account managers, no juniors learning on your invoice, no handoffs.
